it gets stuck only when making a wrong instruction bcoz the software is not much efficient. Else it will work fine. You cant resolve this issue from the user end. It should be fixed by Company.
I've installed WPLSoft, but it didn't asked any hardware device to be present and attached to my PC. I've accessed the only menu that appears to be available and that's the Communication one. You need to use that menu to connect to the device in different modes: RS232, Ethernet, USB, CDC, etc.
After installation, go to Help > WPLSoft User Index to read about more the way the software works and how you need to configure it.

In order to reset the values to factory default using the WPLsoft you need to connect the PLC device to your computer and launch the software. From the Communication menu select Format PLC memory and follow the on-screen instructions. After that, reboot your computer and uninstall (Control Panel > Uninstall a program) and reinstall the PLC utility.

I ran into the same problem, and this error message pops up:
The package length error;Error Code = 3
All I did to fix it is "Run as Administrator" while opening the software.
